Broccoli Tofu Burger Recipe

I know lots of you don’t like broccoli, ir that’s what you think… but I swear that if you know how to prepare it, it will be a great friend. That’s why I want you to try this broccoli tofu burger at home.

I usually hear “I hate broccoli”, but I sincerely think that’s only because it is normally taken boiled and that’s is quite boring. Well, here I have to say I like boiled broccoli as well haha.

And perhaps you are asking yourself why do I have to eat broccoli? Well, broccoli is a wonderful food with lots of benefits for us and our body, it contains iron, Vitamins such a C and A, also has folic acid, phosphorus, potassium, fibre and it is a great antioxidant. 

So get encouraged and make these healthy burgers, in addition they are easy to prepare and you’ll need just some minutes to have them ready.

Broccoli Tofu Burger Recipe

Ingredients to make 4 burgers:

  • 200 gr broccoli
  • 200 gr firm tofu
  • 1/2 medium onion (about 50 gr)
  • 6-8 fesh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp sweet paprika
  • Salt


  1. Frist we have to dry the tofu, we will need some paper towels, place the tofu over a couple paper towels and press every side with more paper towels (be careful because we don’t want to break it). Then transfer it into a bowl and smash it with a fork until it is totally destroyed.
  2. Cut the biggest broccoli stalks and chop the broccoli into small pieces. Mix this with the tofu.
  3. Chop the onion (small pieces) and transfer to the bowl. 
  4. Now we are going to add the spices and salt, stir well until the “dough” is uniform. Then add the breadcrumbs and stir again.
  5. Shape the burgers pressing well to get them compact. Now you can fry or bake them.

As you can se on the picture, I took this burger with bread, arugula (rocket salad) and avocado, but you can add tomato, onion or the ingredients you love the most.
